Apple GSX report and IMEI checks for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch

78,000+ orders completed · rejected orders are refunded automatically

A GSX report is the record Apple holds for a device: model and configuration, serial and both IMEIs, who sold the unit and where, purchase date and warranty coverage, the activation policy it is locked to, whether it has been unlocked and when, the iOS version, Find My status, MDM enrolment and SIM-lock state.

Unlocks.Site sells each part of that record as a separate check so you only pay for what you need: the Full GSX report for the complete picture, GSX Next Tether + iOS for the lock policy the device will receive on its next activation, Sold+Case with a screenshot for proof, Case history and Replacement/Repair history for units that may have been serviced, MDM On/Off, EID for eSIM work, and a cheap Model/Capacity/Colour lookup.

Checks accept an IMEI, and most also accept a serial number, so Wi-Fi iPads, Macs and Apple Watch work too. Results arrive in seconds to a couple of minutes, every check returns a result, and you can run them in bulk or through the API. These are reports only: nothing is changed on the device, and field coverage depends on what Apple holds for it.

Services on this page

Typical time is the median of completed orders over the last 30 days; “—” means too few recent orders to measure.

Requirements

  • A 15-digit IMEI, or the serial number for devices without one (Wi-Fi iPad, Mac, Apple Watch).
  • An account with balance. Registered users also get a daily quota of free carrier/SIM-lock checks on the Free check page.

How it works

  1. Pick the check that answers your question (see the table and FAQ).
  2. Paste one IMEI/serial or a list; the order is sent to the source automatically.
  3. The result is posted to the order within seconds to minutes; checks always return a result.
  4. If the source cannot read the device the order is rejected and refunded automatically.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Full GSX report contain?

Model and config description, serial number, IMEI and IMEI2, product line, Sold By (the distributor or carrier that first bought the unit from Apple), purchase country and date, warranty status, Applied Activation Policy, Unlock Date (only for unlocked units), OS version, Find My iPhone, MDM Lock and SIM Lock. Missing lines mean Apple holds no record for that field.

What is the Next Tether Policy?

The lock policy the device receives on its next activation. "Unlock." means the device is factory unlocked; a carrier name (for example "US Verizon Locked Policy") means it will activate locked to that network. The GSX Next Tether + iOS check returns Applied, Initial and Next Tether policies together with first activation and last restore dates, DEP enrolment and loaner status.

Does "Sold By" show the current owner?

No. Product Sold By is the distributor or carrier that first bought the unit from Apple, not the current owner. Carrier and SIM-lock lines are added only when Apple holds them.

Can I check an iPad or Mac that has no IMEI?

Yes. The MDM On/Off, Sold By and case/repair checks accept a serial number, so they work for Wi-Fi iPads, Macs and Apple Watch; such units return fewer lines (no IMEI, EID or SIM-lock).

What does MDM Lock: ON mean?

The device is enrolled in a management profile (DEP/ABM). The check reports it and does not remove it.

What does "No data available" or "No Case History" mean?

Apple holds no record of that kind, the normal result for a unit that was never serviced. It is a valid result and not a refund case. The Case History check lists every Apple support case with its date and summary, for example Consumer Activation Lock; summaries come in the language of the Apple region that opened the case.

Does a GSX check unlock or change my device?

No. These are reports only; the device is not unlocked and nothing is changed on it. Results are for reference and final details are subject to official sources.

Is a GSX check the same as a blacklist check?

No. GSX reflects Apple's record; lost, stolen and fraud reports shared by carriers live in the GSMA database, covered by the GSMA Blacklist check. A clean GSMA result in turn does not cover carrier-internal blocks such as unpaid bills, which need the carrier check.

The official route

Apple publishes part of this record for free: checkcoverage.apple.com shows the model, warranty and coverage status for a serial number, and on iOS 14 and later Settings > General > About shows the carrier lock line ("No SIM restrictions" when the phone is unlocked). If you hold the device and only need coverage or lock status, those routes cost nothing. GSX reports add what Apple does not show publicly — Sold By, purchase country and date, activation policies, unlock date, MDM and Find My status, case and repair history — and they work by IMEI for a device you do not have in hand.
